How We Got Here
It started in June 2026 after one too many people told Gabriela, "If you had a podcast, I would listen." So naturally, she decided to test that theory.
She recruited Amy — her best friend since childhood — and Lena, her coworker who happened to be tech-savvy, just as awkward, and apparently willing to go along with the whole idea.
And just like that… Certifiably Awkward was born. Six episodes in, we don't know how many listeners we have, but we are absolutely, certifiably cringe-worthy — and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Meet Gabriela, Amy & Lena
Gabriela
Mom to twin boys, married 27 years, and the reason this podcast exists at all. When enough people told her she should have a podcast, she stopped laughing it off and started recording.
Part charm, part chaos, and 100% capable of laughing at exactly the wrong moment. If awkwardness were a professional certification, she'd proudly display it on her wall — slightly crooked, name misspelled, and absolutely no intention of fixing either.
"People kept saying I should do a podcast. I figured the worst that could happen was… this."
Amy
Gabriela's best friend since childhood and the first person recruited for this experiment. After three decades in a relationship, Amy found herself single at 50 and navigating a terrifying new milestone: the first date.
A longtime self-proclaimed shy girl, she is officially shedding her shell — and collecting plenty of awkward stories along the way. Luckily she doesn't have to face the cringe-worthy moments alone.
"I've been Gabriela's best friend for 50 years. Somehow this is still the most chaotic thing we've done."
Lena
Gabriela's coworker who was recruited on the basis of being tech-savvy, just as awkward, and apparently willing to go along with the whole idea. At 29, she's the youngest of the trio and the reason the audio doesn't sound like it was recorded in a parking garage.
Japanese-and-Korean, grew up on military bases, lived in Hawaii until age 24, multilingual, multicultural, and currently thriving in her single era. Loves nothing more than a deep laugh and a good cringe-worthy story — usually involving her latest trip or fall.
